The Benefits
In addition to being the central tool in the maintenance of health and longevity, exercise and movement are an excellent avenue for playful expression and sensory enjoyment. The best, most effective kinds of therapies are those that one enjoys doing, and therefore practices daily. If we truly comprehended the anti-aging and neuro-protective effects of aerobic exercise, we would doubtless be inspired to immediately start engaging in regular physical activity.

Also, the repetitive, rhythmic strides of certain exercises such as jogging induce an alpha brain- wave state normally achieved through meditation – the calm alertness when experiencing a “flow” state or being “in the zone”. This is enhanced by a decrease in blood-flow to the thinking centers of the pre- frontal cortex, effectively relaxing a busy, “chattery” mind and bringing awareness into the body, a powerful and intuitive symphony of functioning.
